Floating LNG power station

The Hummel LNG Power Barge is believed to be the first of its kind and is based in Hamburg, Germany. It is fitted with 5 large generators running of natural gas capable of developing 7.5 MW at 11,000 volts.

During the summer cruise ship season, it will be used to supply the ships while they are in harbour so allowing the ships to stop their diesel powered generators.

The barges source of gas is two 40ft ISO containers of liquid gas held at a chilly -160oC. our control system takes this LNG and evaporates it ready for the engines to burn. We designed this ATEX rated system in England, wired it in the Czech Republic, installed it in Slovakia and commissioned it in Germany.
